Can You Afford a “Moderate” Retirement?

The Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association (PLSA) recently updated their figures on what it takes to enjoy a moderate retirement:

💷 £31,700 per year for a single person

💷 £43,900 per year for a couple

This covers:

🚗 A modest second-hand car replaced every 7 years

✈️ A 2-week 3-star all-inclusive holiday in the Med

🇬🇧 One UK weekend break per year

Not extravagant—just comfortable.

Yet the full state pension (currently £12,014 per year) leaves a substantial gap. And it’s only available from age 66, with that threshold rising.

For professionals in their 30s, 40s or 50s—especially those living and working in Surrey—this is a critical moment to reflect:

✅ What kind of lifestyle do I want in retirement?

✅ When do I realistically want to stop working?

✅ Am I building enough wealth now to secure that future?

✅ How much is “enough” for me?

At Willowhurst Financial Planning, we work with hard working people like you who want to take control of their future—without guesswork.
